Coping mechanisms, act 1 by dr. Bonnie Lander

This clip features my absolute favorite movement from my dissertation work, Coping Mechanisms premiered in 2017 at UC San Diego’s CPMC Black Box Theater. Featuring the ensemble from Rhymes With Opera, as well as talented musicians Judith Hamann, Kjell Nordeson, and Tommy Babin in the orchestra, this opera blends structured improvisation with operatic performance for a truly unnerving effect.

“If Only She Had Listened to Me” from Adams Run by Ruby Fulton (2014)

Have you ever tried, desperately, to convince your best friend/coworker/mega crush to stay out of trouble? Then this aria’s for you!

Watch me perform as producer Dana Daring in my first video opera, Rhymes With Opera’s Adams Run.

Ur Sonata by Kurt Schwitters

Beeeeeeee bö.

This caught-on-camera recording is from my 2017 US Summer Tour - Omaha Under The Radar Festival. This is one of my earliest performances of this monster text piece by iconic German Dada artist, Kurt Schwitters. Enjoy!

Jószef Attila Fragments by György Kurtág

Hungarian Poet-Laureate Jószef Attila writes “The poet’s love is blazing straw, hence its greed and devouring speed.”

Set to music by György Kurtág, this song cycle reflects the stoic, bareness of Attila’s work. Please enjoy my performance, 2015, at UC San Diego’s Conrad Prebys Music Center.

Four Emily Dickinson Songs by Kate Porter

Direct from the 5th Dimension! This excerpt from Baltimore composer Kate Porter’s song cycle for cello and soprano was recorded in June 2020 as part of Project Blank’s Sofa Series.

Fluid Skin, by Amy Brandon

This piece was created by composer Amy Brandon during the 2020 Rhymes With Opera Pocket Opera Workshop. I was immediately impressed with the legato vocal writing, use of extended techniques, and surreal imagery of the text (David Martin).

Once the recording was finished, Amy created this wonderful electronic track and video for the piece that I am excited to share! Enjoy!
